Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
LinksVid publishes personal finance education for everyday people. Because financial decisions can affect someone's housing, retirement, and family security, we hold our editorial process to a deliberately strict standard. This page explains exactly how our content is researched, written, fact-checked, and corrected.
1. How We Research
Every article begins with primary-source research. Depending on the topic, that means:
- Government publications — IRS publications and revenue procedures, the Federal Reserve's Survey of Consumer Finances and Household Economic Decisionmaking surveys, Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure and Occupational Employment data, SEC Investor.gov guidance, FDIC deposit insurance rules and national rate data, and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) consumer guides.
- Peer-reviewed and institutional research — behavioral economics studies on saving behavior, consumer credit research from the Federal Reserve Bank system, and academic literature on financial decision-making.
- Direct verification of numbers — interest rates, contribution limits, and thresholds are checked against the current official source at the time of publication, never copied from another blog.
2. How We Write
Our writing standards exist to make complicated rules usable:
- Plain English first. If a technical term is unavoidable, we define it in the same sentence.
- Specific numbers, not vague adjectives. "Saves $440 in the 22% bracket" beats "saves you money."
- Honest trade-offs. When a strategy has downsides, we say so in the same section that promotes it.
- No hype. We do not use language like "guaranteed," "risk-free," or "get rich" for anything that carries risk.
- Real examples. Where possible, articles include worked numbers, case studies, or documented personal experience from the author.
3. Fact-Checking
Before publication, every article is checked against its cited sources for:
- Numerical accuracy (rates, limits, percentages, dates)
- Correct attribution of rules to the right agency or statute
- Currency — whether the data reflects the current tax year or rate environment
4. Updates and Corrections
Financial information decays. Tax brackets change annually, interest rates move, and regulations are revised. We handle this in three ways:
- Scheduled reviews: Every article is reviewed at least annually, and immediately when a relevant rule changes (for example, annual IRS contribution limits).
- Visible update dates: Articles display both the original publication date and the most recent update date.
- Correction policy: If you believe something is inaccurate, email team@linksvid.com with the page URL and what looks wrong. We verify reader-flagged issues promptly and update the article when warranted. Material corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected article.
5. Independence and Advertising
LinksVid is intended to be funded by display advertising (including through Google AdSense) once approved; advertising is not live across the site yet. When it is, it will be served programmatically and is never directed at specific products mentioned in an article. Our editorial decisions are independent of advertisers:
- We do not accept payment for positive coverage or specific product placement.
- Advertisers have no advance review of, or influence over, editorial content.
- If an article ever contains an affiliate link, it will be disclosed in that article. At present, our articles do not use affiliate links.
6. Authorship and Expertise
Articles are written by a named author whose background and areas of coverage are published on the author page (see who writes here). We do not publish anonymous financial content. We are clear that this is an independent educational writer, not a licensed adviser, and that no article is personalized professional advice.
7. What We Are Not
LinksVid is an educational publication. We are not a registered investment adviser, brokerage, CPA firm, credit counseling agency, or law firm. Our content is not personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice — and every article says so explicitly. For decisions involving your specific situation, consult a licensed professional in your jurisdiction.
